Most editors and most other publications would have likely just taken the timeslips as legit and ran with the “World’s Quickest FWD” or “First FWD in the 6s” headlines. That’s a solid headline. On top of that, taking that approach doesn’t upset the racer or builder of the vehicle and you don’t upset any of the sponsors that might be marketing the vehicle as the World’s Quickest or World’s Fastest. As a matter of convenience, expedience and politics, some would argue that this approach would be the best.
