MODEL OF THE MONTH January 2006 Issue 37
First Date: Jasmin Alejandrino

Almost seven years ago, we were introduced to Jasmin Alejandrino through Victor at RPM Magazine. Back then, Jasmin was a college freshman that was new to the import scene. Today, Jasmin had matured into the beautiful model that graces these pages.

DSport: It's been six-and-a-half years since you were on the cover of Import Tuner. Does it seem longer or shorter than that?
Jasmin: Longer. It feels like it was a lifetime ago. Since then I changed my college major four times, graduated and now I work as a paralegal.

DSport: You are computer science graduate from UCI, how did you end up being a paralegal?
Jasmin: I was a criminology major before computer science. I quickly found out that I didn't want to program for the rest of my life. I'm consider going to law school, but I want to see if this is what I want to do. Working as a paralegal, I get a good look at this field.

DSport: What do you remember most from your college experience?
Jasmin: Being a freshman and living in the dorms was an experience like no other. It was crazy. There was always something going on. After my freshman year, I shared an apartment with some roommates. Although we were only two miles from campus, it was much different than the dorms.

DSport: Were you a nerd or more of a party girl in college?
Jasmin: When it came to studying I was a nerd. I probably studied more than all of my friends. But, I socialized a lot too.

DSport: This year, we saw you again at the SEMA show. Have you been active in the import scene all this time or have you taken some breaks?
Jasmin: It's pretty rare that I head out to shows these days. I've taken a lot of breaks, but I still really enjoy going to the shows.

DSport: Your good friend Natasha Yi was one of the people that suggested that we use you for the cover. How long have the two of you known each other?
Jasmin: About five years. But we didn't really hang out until this year.

DSport: What is her most annoying habit?
Jasmin: She talks a lot late at night when I'm trying to sleep.

DSport: When referring to beauty and girls of Filipino descent, Peter Hipolito once said that a candle that burns twice as bright only lasts half as long. You look better now than you did six years ago. What's your secret?
Jasmin: I think I just grew up and my face matured.

DSport: Are you a flirt?
Jasmin: Yes. In a good, friendly way. But I'm real. If I don't like you, I don't waste time hanging out with you.

DSport: Have you ever gone out on a date with someone you met from the internet?
Jasmin: No. I would be too scared to.

DSport: Do you attract stalkers?
Jasmin: I haven't had a text book stalker, but there have been times when some obsessed people made me feel uncomfortable.

DSport: So, That's why we haven't spoken in six years?
Jasmin: (Laughing) Exactly. No. But, you know what I mean

DSport: How is today's scene different from the scene six and a half years ago?
Jasmin: Overall, the scene is a lot bigger now. There are also more girls at the events. The cars have changed for the better too. Back then, most of the models didn't know each other. Today, a lot of us know each other.

DSport: What's the biggest misconception people have about you?
Jasmin: I think most people are surprised at how dorky I am. I'm not uptight. Not as innocent as I look.

DSport: Where's your favorite place to visit.
Jasmin: I really enjoy Seattle. The weather sucks, but the people are really nice.

DSport: What would be your dream job? Where would you have your dream house?
Jasmin: My dream job would be a Public Relations job where I get to meet a lot of people. It would involve some travel too. My dream house would be on the beach in Newport Coast, California.
