August 25 - 27th 2006 marked the weekend of the Hawaii Streetcar Showoff. Held at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, the Hawaii Streetcar Showoff was packed wall to wall with Hawaii's finest tuner cars and VIP rides. From old school Honda Civics to twin turbo G35's, the Island's enthusiasts were representing and showcasing the finest cars from all different classes. Car clubs were clustered together in the different sections of the hall, displaying fresh paint, bumping sound systems, high-performance mods and JDM parts galore. Along one hall was a six pack of sweet Supras, showing Mark-IV pride, while in a different section, VIP cars were on display, showing off luxury style at its finest. With sponsorship by Falken Tires, this Showoff event was well supported.
The vendor section was packed with local tuners displaying some of their finest creations. From drift cars to exotics, choppers, sport bikes and daily drivers, there was a tuner shop representing every group. Living on a rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean hasn't stopped these enthusiasts and tuners from being on top of things.
The beautiful Miss Streetcar Showoff, DSport cover model Lisa Fleming, was on hand and representing throughout the weekend. Other notable industry ladies were present, including Flo Jalin, Aiko Tanaka, KT So, Helen Su, Joyce Lex and Jenny Chu; the models were signing autographs and taking photos with show attendees throughout the weekend.
Local radio station Hot 93.9 and radio personality Krey-Z Oshiro were broadcasting from the event, while a couple of fashion shows, a lingerie show, go-go dance-offs and booty shaking contests kept eyes glued to the different stages throughout the weekend. There was even a hot-dog-eating contest that could curb even the most voracious appetites. With DJ's battling for airspace throughout the hall, it felt and sounded like five different clubbing events happening simultaneously under one roof.
Winding down the summer with an event like this could not have been better. With the show running throughout the weekend, the beach, the parties and the clubs, there was no room for rest. But that's what makes Honolulu such a great place to host this event.
