Lisa Fleming
DSPORT: It is great to see you again. It has been exactly two years since you were on the cover of DSPORT. What have you been up to?
Lisa: These past two years have been pretty good for me. I've have been working with a lot of magazines here in the US as well as overseas. I've had the chance to work in Germany, Philippines, Singapore and Tokyo just to name a few. My cover of FHM Singapore is actually out right now. I even have a billboard in the Philippines. It seems so unreal.
DSPORT: Being featured on a billboard is pretty incredible? Can you share more about it?
Lisa: Yes it's actually in one of the busiest locations in the Philippines called Edsa. I shot for a company called Concept Wheels. It was really just for ads and stuff. But when I got home they mentioned they were going to make a billboard. I was so excited when I got the news. And to hear my friends from the Philippines call me saying they just drove by my billboard put the biggest smile on my face.
DSPORT: Of all the locations you have been to for modeling which was your favorite location?
Lisa: I would have to say Tokyo is my favorite. I love the fashion there and entertainment. I could literally just sit in the middle of Shibuya and watch the people and study their fashion. Also the Japanese people are very respectful and polite.
DSPORT: How has international exposure helped your career?
Lisa: I would say it has helped me quite a bit. From doing shows, leading to magazines, and also hosting shows on TV, it's just never ending. In the end, its about learning about all the cultures, eating their foods and making friends with all types of people. I fell in love with these two girls in the Philippines when I went to visit the province area. There are no computers, no TVs, everyone lives in shacks…and it really opened my eyes to the less fortunate and I couldn't help but want to do something for them. So I helped out this charity event where we donated money and served food to the people in the province (which is called Pompanga). But I still keep in contact with these two girls I met there.
DSPORT: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
Lisa: I hope my fortune teller is right because he said I will be ballin' in the next year. I do have some possible TV hosting gigs in Asia right now and may move to Asia soon. I'm also hoping to open my own modeling agency very soon.
DSPORT: You have a tattoo on your right shoulder, what does it say?
Lisa: Yes my infamous Korean tattoo. Anyways, it says my name (Lisa Kim) in Korean.
DSPORT: What is currently playing in your iPod?
Lisa: My favorite song playing in my iPod right now is Lil' Wayne "Amili". EBK, Too Short, Tupac and Ice Cube are the main artists I haave in my iPod. A friend of mine made me listen to Jawaiian music, it's a Jamaican and Hawaiian mix. When I'm stressing, that music makes me feel like I'm in Hawaii again.
DSPORT: What type of movies do you like best - romantic comedies or action flicks? Lisa: Hmm I fall usually fall asleep watching movies. However my favorite type of movies are romantic comedies. I also watch Korean dramas, which never put me to sleep. Not only are they very interesting and sad but they help me learn my language and more about my culture. I do plan to move to Korea for at least one year sometime in the next few years to work and learn more about my culture.
DSPORT: What was the worst job you ever had?
Lisa: One time I had to drive all the way out to Malibu for an energy drink shoot. I thought it was just a photoshoot but when I got there I find out they want me to dance for the camera. I told them I am a model and not a dancer. So I turned right around and went back home.
DSPORT: What was an embarrassing moment you've had?
Lisa: Well I don't really get embarrassed. It is just how I look at things. Things are only embarrassing if you make it embarrassing. Lets say I farted. I would say, "oh sorry, excuse me" and mention that you might want to move if it smells and that's that. I'm real and I have manners. So don't get me wrong, I wouldn't do that in the public.
DSPORT: If you could have any type of pet in the world what animal would you choose?
Lisa: I want a baby monkey! They are so cute. But I am accepting donations for toy yorkies.
DSPORT: What type of car do you drive?
Lisa: I have a Mercedes SL500. It is black, with a Wald body kit, Remus dual exhaust, smoked-out lights, intake, carbon-fiber intake cover, Louis Vuitton interior, 20-inch MHT rims and yellow Brembo brakes. It was built at Platinum Motorsports.
DSPORT: What is your favorite car?
Lisa: Right now I would have to say the Lamborghini Reventon. That car is screaming my name, don't you think?
DSPORT: What is one destination you wish to visit?
Lisa: Well, I've gone to most places that I've wanted to go but one place I'd like to see is Dubai. I've seen so much about it on the Discovery channel and it seems so beautiful.
DSPORT: What was your most memorable trip? Why?
Lisa: There are so many. But I would have to say Singapore. Best trip so far. Eight of us were flown out to Singapore for a shoot. It's one thing to travel but to get to travel with your friends and all get paid is a whole different story. We each had our own rooms, we had great seafood dinners all the time and we got a full of day spa treatment. That was heaven. And we had a whole swimming park to ourselves. There were slides, waterfalls, and it was raining. It was a blast.
DSPORT: Do you consider yourself a beach or snow bunny?
Lisa: I'm totally a beach girl. I hate cold weather. I think I get it from my mom. We both get cold really easy.
DSPORT: Would you rather party at the club or watch a movie at home?
Lisa: Last week I might've said club but now I'm saying movie at home. I'm so tired from clubbing. Right now, it's basically my life. I either throw parties, get paid to party, or show up at my friend's parties.
DSPORT: Are you more shy or outgoing?
Lisa: I'm way more outgoing than shy. I can't stop talking, look at this interview. I wouldn't be surprised if the editor cuts some of my answers.
DSPORT: What is your favorite fruit?
Lisa: Mango. Especially the dried mangos! Maybe I have been in the Philippines too long.
DSPORT: What is your favorite type of food?
Lisa: I would have to say Vietnamese food. I love Vietnamese food. But Korean is right up there too. I can cook many types of Korean food and I just learned how to cook the Filipino soup called Sinigang. I love cooking.
